AI haircut apps, compared honestly

Twelve apps and tools, compared on the questions that decide whether one is worth your time: does it tell you what suits you and why, does your face stay yours in the previews, and how does it bill you.

Disclosure: we make Fitcut, one of the apps below, so weigh our entry accordingly; we list its limits too. Facts about other apps come from their own sites, App Store listings and public review pages on the date above. Prices change, so check before you pay.

How we compared

  • Recommendation depth: does it rank cuts for you, and from what?
  • Previews: does it keep your face when it changes the hair?
  • Pricing model: free, one-time, credits or weekly subscription.
  • Platform: web, iOS or Android.

Which one fits what you need

  • You want to know what suits you, and why

Pick a recommender that explains its picks. Fitcut ranks from your hair and face; HaircutAI gives a free landmark-based report; CutMuse gives visagism-based picks from two photos.

  • You just want to try lots of styles

A try-on tool with a big library is the better fit: YouCam has 200+ styles, BarberGPT is the cheapest per render for men, and HairstyleAI.com sells one big batch.

  • You don’t want to pay anything

Use a free analysis (ours, HaircutAI’s, or our face shape detector), then a general AI assistant with a careful prompt for the try-on, accepting that faces tend to drift after a few edits.

  • You run a salon or barbershop

CutMuse sells salon plans. Fitcut’s partner program works the other way round: shops earn a share of what their clients buy instead of paying a monthly fee.

Questions

What is the best AI haircut app?
It depends on what you need. If you want to know which cuts suit you and why, use a recommender that explains its picks (Fitcut, HaircutAI or CutMuse). If you already know what you want and just want to see many styles, a try-on tool with a large library, like YouCam, is the better fit.
Are AI haircut apps accurate?
Two different things get called accurate. For recommendations, most apps reduce your face to one of 5–7 shapes, and face-shape labels are a stylists’ convention that even experts agree on poorly; hair texture, density and hairline matter more. For previews, the common failure is the face changing between edits, so look for apps that edit only the hair.
Can ChatGPT or Gemini pick a haircut for me?
They can suggest cuts if you describe your hair and face, and edit a photo of you. They don’t measure anything themselves, and in a June 2026 test Gemini’s image model kept likeness for one or two edits before faces started to soften and shift.
Why are so many haircut apps weekly subscriptions?
Weekly pricing ($3.99–$12.99 a week among the apps above) is common in iOS lifestyle apps. Read the renewal terms before starting a trial; a yearly or one-time price usually costs far less per month.
