Reading the texture codes
1A to 4C is the Andre Walker scale: the number is the family, the letter how tight the pattern is. Most people have more than one, which is why the analysis lets you pick “mixed”.
- 1A–1C Straight
- Lies flat; holds height only with product.
- 2A–2C Wavy
- An S-pattern that loosens with length.
- 3A–3C Curly
- Defined curls; cut dry to allow for shrinkage.
- 4A–4C Coily
- Tight coils; shrinks the most, so lengths are cut longer.
